Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) and one of its members, Owen Daniels, handed over a cheque for nearly £12,000 to Aerobility.

The charity changes lives by allowing anyone, with any disability, to experience the magic and wonder of flight.

Headquartered at Blackbushe Airport in Surrey, Aerobility provides access to modified light aircraft as well as inclusive aviation projects and opportunities expanding beyond the cockpit.

The money was raised at a golf day held at the Skylark Golf and Country Club in Hampshire, hosted jointly between recruiter Owen Daniels and FAC.

Owen Daniels is a leading STEM sector recruitment specialist, providing services to businesses globally, primarily within the aerospace, manufacturing and engineering sectors.

A sunny day saw almost 100 people come together for a friendly game. There was also a raffle and silent auction on the green, boosting the final amount to £11,826 – almost twice the amount raised last year.

Alan Fisher, CEO of FAC, which is a trade association for businesses in the aerospace, aviation, defence and space sectors, said:

This was a superb amount raised for such a great charity.

“Owen Daniels and FAC have held golf days together before and we were joined by many of our members.

“Skylark Golf and Country Club did us proud by giving us the course for free – it was incredibly kind.

“We held a raffle and silent auction and we’d like to thank all those who donated prizes and made bids.

“Aerobility does wonderful work and really does transform lives by helping disabled people realise just what they are capable of.”

Mike Miller-Smith MBE, CEO of Aerobility, said:

We are so grateful to FAC for supporting us as their charity and to Owen Daniels for making the event such a success.

“With the backing of organisations like this we can continue to lift the lives of people with disabilities through the powerful tool of aviation.

Matt Bowman from Owen Daniels said:

It is an absolute honour to support Aerobility for a third straight year via our annual golf day in collaboration with Farnborough Aerospace Consortium.

“The event was very successful and was sold out. We are very grateful to everyone who attended, played, donated and sponsored the event. Without them we would not have been able to reach our fundraising target.

“Aerobility is an inspiring charity and, as our relationship has developed, I have been privileged to witness firsthand the impact it has on people.

“It has a tremendous team, many of whom volunteer their time, and we look forward to supporting them for years to come.
