Local charity St Michael’s Hospice launched its monthly Kilo Sales at its Furniture Store in 2025 and has since raised an incredible £15,716.
St. Michael’s Hospice is an independent charity based in Basingstoke, supporting people across North Hampshire who have a life-limiting illness, are facing the end-of-life or experiencing bereavement. They need to raise £15,000 a day to continue running their services and rely on the generosity of the local community to help them do this.
Kilo Sales give the opportunity for savvy shoppers to shop for preloved items by the kilo. St. Michael’s Hospice hosts their monthly Kilo Sales at their Furniture store on Wade Road, Basingstoke. The sales offer one kilo of clothing and accessories for £10 – which can equate to a whole outfit. With the popularity of charity shops and preloved shopping increasing – the Kilo Sales couldn’t have launched at a better time for the charity, as explained by Lorraine Pink, Director of Income Generation at the Hospice:
Our Kilo Sales have been a great success, and we can’t wait for them to grow even more. By raising £15,716 so far, not only have our community helped to stop more items going into landfill, but they’ve also helped raise much-needed funds to help us provide our vital care to families across North Hampshire. You never know what you’re going to find at our Kilo Sales, so it’s definitely worth popping in to have a rummage every month.
The Kilo Sales are held on the first weekend of each month at the Hospice’s Furniture Store at Unit 8, 8 Onslow Close, Wade Road, Basingstoke RG24 8QL. Women’s’, men’s and children’s clothes are available, with stock constantly changing. To find out more, visit stmichaelshospice.org.uk
